The Monopoly of Violence au Bergen Film Festival (Norvège)

THE MONOPOLY OF VIOLENCE explores the clashes between “the yellow vests” and French police, examining the ways in which a government justifies brutal acts of violence against its citizens. Grounding his film in the teachings of sociologist and political economist Max Weber, Dufresne interviews intellectuals, police officers and victims of police assault. The result is a probing, challenging and sometimes shocking film which shows the dangers of police serving the state rather than the people.
